Hi Xavier here to remind you about the 4 sheets of homework Mr.Piatek gave us over the holidays.
Don't forget to do them because it's due right after the break is over. Hopefully I don't forget mine too =]

For December 17th, 2010.
Hi there, It's Michelle.
I'm going to reflect on what we did last class. Well last class we received a new project. At first, I thought it would be a hard project, but it really wasn't. It was based on Relations and Functions. We paired up with a partner and was given a pair of dice. We were given a sheet that explained what we had to do. What we had to do was roll the pair of dice 100 times, and tally down the number that was rolled. For example, if I rolled the pair of dice and the pair of dice both landed with 1 dot on it's side. Then that would equal to 2. I would put 1 tally under #2. After rolling the pair of dice 100 times, we took the data and had plot it on a graph, and answered a few questions after.
That's what we pretty much did for the whole class. (:

Hey guys this is Sargam and I am here to tell you guys about our last class. Our last class was totally fun, we had to play a game in a group of 4 using 27 dice.
Mr.P also explained us about the VIRUS (H1N1). Last class was really fun and we also had a homework which was to graph the assignment.
I hope that everyone has done that.
Thanx

Hey guys,
Mr. Piatek discussed about RELATIONS and FUNCTIONS last friday. He also gave as a worksheet.
RELATIONS- is two sets of values (input and output) that are related together..
FUNCTIONS- a specific kind of relation for which each input value has exactly one output value.
In relation we can use a vertical line test to prove that it is a function.
This is an example of RELATION:
and this is the example of a FUNCTION:

Hey:))
Hey guys this is Harpreet and I am here to tell you guys about our previous class. It was really fun. We learn some new things about the Linear Equation and Mr.P also gave us some notes regarding that. Mr.P had also given us some Homework ( 2 worksheets) which will be due in our next class. This is all we did in our last class.
Here is a picture of Linear Equation:-

Oh hi thar,
Rhenz here! I'm here to talk about what happened last class.
Well, Most of us failed to finish our homework which was the one where you make 2 stories. 1 for yourself to answer and 1 for your partner to answer. I, never finished mine( never even knew we had homework, i thought we finished it last class ). So Mr.P gave us 15-20minutes for the people who didn't finish it to finish it. After that we made 5 groups and each one needs to have 1 story or a time graph. Then each group puts they're story/time graph on the smart board. We only finished 3 or was it 2.. sorry i have a bad memory, anyways we didn't finish every group's story/graph because we didn't had enough time.
Here's a picture that relates to what we did last time :

GRAPH
kso, last class which was last thursday we did some graph problems. Heres one that we did
Problem: At 1pm she starts off on a journey of 9 miles. She gets there by 2:30pm. She stays there for 45 minutes then she travels for 3 miles in direction of home which takes 30 minutes. The cyclist then gets a puncture and takes 2 hrs to do the last 6 miles home.

So you start at 0.0 (origin), then she traveled 9miles in 2 hours and 30 minutes. so put a dot on (2.5, 9) then she stayed for 45 minutes. so put a dot on (3.25, 9) she wanted to go home so she traveled 3 miles in 30 minutes so put a dot on ( 3.75, 6) the cyclist got a puncture so it took her 2 hours to do the last 6 miles. so put a dot on (5.45, 0) thats it, your done.!

Stuff we did in class :)
Hello classmates today in class we got study guides about relations, mapping, domain and range. We also got a homework sheet about coordinates and one of the questions were about people at a bus stop and how tall and old they are. The y axis was the height and the x axis represented the age. I would have put pictures on my blog but the laptop appears to not like putting pictures on the blog so i guess this is the end of my blog.
thanks for reading.

ellow noobs XD
Hi this is Xavier. I'm going to post about the things we did in class yesterday(Friday, Nov.19,10). First of all I was late for class for about 10 minutes :) .
We played battleship on the Smartboard using a coordinate plane. A coordinate plane looks like this.
Then we played battleship using the coordinate planes again but this time againts each other. I played with John Cruz and he won. We had some time left to kill till the pep rally. So some of us worked on our homework. Which is to come up with a design(picture of a person, animal and/or a thing) on the coordinate plane. Then we provide the full coordinate points of our design. By the way this is due on Tuesday.
Well that's pretty much all we did, thanks for reading my post =]]

Oh, Hey guys!
November 15, 2010 - Tuesday.
Our activity (using measuring cup & 2 L bottle) is postponed (again) until Wednesday. So instead, we played a maze game about coordinate system(s) with Mr. Piatek.
It was fun! In case you're interested with the game, click here.
As usual, Mr. Piatek gave us another worksheet about coordinate systems and graphs. Our class just keeps getting more fun especially now 'cause our unit/topic is about, Relations & Functions. Mr. P gave us a lot of homeworks today, but it's okay. But, We can pass this class/course, right classmates? :)
Btw, I saw an interesting video of some information(s) about Cartesian Coordinate System from YouTube. I hope this video will help you to understand more about Relations & Functions.
So, yeah. That's all I can say. Thank you & See ya! *u*

Hi folks ! This is Faye,
( Last class Mr. P told us to bring a measuring cup and an empty water bottle to do some fun activity but it was cancelled because there is no enough time to do it.)
So today in class we just started a new unit. It's about "Relations and Functions". Well, this is sounded familiar to me. I'm pretty sure I have studied this before. So, I got an idea of what is this about. Mr P. explained that....
- "Relations is a set of inputs and outputs, often written as ordered pairs (input, output). We can also represent a relation as a mapping diagram or a graph"
- "Funtions is a relation in which each input has only one output.

Just want to remind you guys that we will have A LONG QUIZ tomorrow, so be prepared...Good Luck :)
hey guys. :) how are you? its me Steph.
As always, Mr. P starts our class by giving us activities. This time he asks us to bring popcorns. He told us to bring out 2 loss leafs. We'll make a cylinder, one is folded horizontally then the other one is folded vertically. The challenge is we need to find out which popcorn bag has more popcorns inside without using any mathematical calculation. So to find out, we need to put the taller popcorn bag inside the short one, fill the taller bag with popcorn and remove it inside the short bag and because of that we find out that the shorter one has the larger amount of popcorn inside..
The next thing we did was we talked about how to get the volume of a right circular cylinder. We proved that the short popcorn bag has the more popcorn inside using formulas.
Mr.P also gave us worksheet where in we will find the surface area or the volume of the given figure. We answered some numbers. And thats what we did last Tuesday :) :)

Hi! It's Clarice. :]
I'm here to post something about what we did today. At first, Mr.P told us our scores and marks on our quizzes and handed them to us. He, then, presented a powerpoint presentation about volumes. He also gave us some activities about Pyramid Volume Theorem and how to solve for the surface area of the pyramids we made.
We measured our pyramids and solved it amongst ourselves. Some of us got it wrong, while some of us got it right. We finished our pyramids and Mr. P graded them. Our marks are satisfactory given the little amount of time our teacher allowed us. That's all we had done today. :D

HEY people , it's me Hanz. Today , Mr.Piatek gave us a math challenge about calculating how much time you'll have to wait if you were buying tickets at a concert and you were at the bottom of line. Everyone pretty much had their own estimations. Next, Mr. Piatek showed us a PowerPoint presentation showing how to calculate specific figures and shapes. Lastly, Mr. P did a little experiment based on Archimedes' story. We weighted all of the class' soda cans by placing them in a container filled with water. Then , we figured out which will float and which will sink. It was really fun ! That was all what we did today. Thanks to taking time reading it , see you next class ! ;)

Hey Guys,
How are u Today?
I am manveer, i am going to talk about what we did in class. In the beginning of the class we had a Quiz about hieroglyphics Addition and Subtraction. i was the last one to finish.
Next we Learned how Egyptians did Multiplication. they did it in a very simple way . this is the example Mr Piatek gave us 7 x 13. Can you Answer this Question 20 x 14
Next we played a game called Stop And GO. at the end of the day we Choose the winner of the soap Curving.
(: Thanks :)
Hope you enjoyed

Soap Carving
Hi guys this is Roop,
How are you doing?
Today we carved soap, it was fun doing it and first some people had difficulties doing it but then it was easy.
we had to flat the soap and then write our birthday year, month and day in Egyptian writing and our names. It was really interesting. Guys i found a picture of carved soap it is not in Egyptian math but i really like it so thats why i post it to.

Egyptian Mathematics - Part - 3
Hey Gurleen here ! How are you guys doing?
Today in Advanced Topics in math we learned how to do Egyptian Word Problems. Believe me people they are kind of hard. But after examples and explanations you will be able to understand them. Here are a few examples:
If | bucket of food feeds || camels for ||| days. How many buckets are need for |||||||||||| camels for | day?
(| means 1. so if there is ||| it is 3)
The answer to this question is 2
We also had some challenges that we had to do in class. The first 1 was easy but the second one was not. Here is one of the examples.
BIRDS AND RABBITS
There are Rabbits and Birds in 1 cage. There are 16 heads and 38 feet. How many Birds are in the cage?
Can you figure it out?
I had an awesome time in class today!!

Today we learned something which was quite interesting , We learned how to do subtraction in Hieroglyphics.
Believe me it is not at all easy it was super duper difficult but we gave our best .
Mr.P have also shown us some very great things and I hope that we will be able to learn some other new facts about Hieroglyphics .
Thanks!
Enjoy:)
